Salt Lake City Man Charged with 1st Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child Released on $1,000 Bond thanks to new Utah Judicial Council Bail Policy

Donald Kington, a Salt Lake City man, was released on a mere $1,000 bond on October 9, 2020 after being charged with 3 counts of 1st degree aggravated sexual assault of a child — all thanks to new bail guidelines that were implemented by the Utah Judicial Council that went into effect on October 1, 2020.

Despite the prosecutors recommended $200,000 bond, Kingston was released after the judge reduced his bail to $1,000 and a “promise” to be good and appear in court.

Failures of the Utah Judicial Council Guidelines

Utah Judicial Council Rules…

ZERO Deterrent for Repeat Offenders.
ZERO concern for victims of crime.
REDUCES Criminal Accountability.
REMOVES Judicial Discretion.
MAX Bail of $5,000 for ANY Felony Offense
Dangerous, Reckless, and a Taxpayer Burden

  1. How incredibility irresponsible to have low bonds on such horrific crimes. Our system is becoming increasing reckless with allowances made. Our children should be our greatest concern, they need our protection more than any other aspect of society and it is actions like this that send the message that they don’t matter like they should..

  2. Stop this absurd law!!! Keep the criminals behind bars with proper bail!! The State is responsible for anyone killed or rape!! Our legislature is CORRUPT!! THIS IS UT. WE ARE A CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC!! STOP THE MAHEM!!!!

  3. This is Bull Sheet. Who made this law! I am so appaled…and the child that he hurt….where are his or her rights…no Bail for this POS!
